Amazon Prime Video August 2023 Streaming News
Here’s all the news Amazon Prime Video is making this month.
More Amazon Price Hikes?
Aug 18 — Amazon has just announced they are raising prices on Amazon Music for the second time in less than a year. The service is going up $1.00 per month and includes pre-paid accounts. Amazon is currently the most expensive streaming account to maintain along with the Amazon Prime service. It’s increased prices almost by 25% each year over the past five years. Will Amazon Prime Video be next to splinter and raise prices yet again?
Amazon Follows Netflix To Korea
Aug 16 — While many Kdramas were popular on Netflix prior to COVID-19, they truly became mainstream during that time on Netflix. In the spirit of “Good artist copy, great artist steal”, Amazon has quietly followed Netflix lead into Korean programs on their streaming platform. Amazon Prime Video’s latest is a 12-part series, The Kidnapping Day. Unlike most binge drops, Amazon is making it available on Wednesdays and Thursdays starting September 13, 2023. The black comedy thriller is named after the book of the same name in which a child genius helps a misfit father to solve murder mysteries. Harlan Coben’s Young Adult Novel Turned into Amazon Original Series
Shelter airs this month on August 18th like a spooky Halloween thriller. Shelter is the first in a trilogy. The thriller-style series stars Jaden Michael as Mickey Bolitar, Constance Zimmer as Shira Bolitar, and Adrian Greensmith as Arthur “Spoon” Spindell. Abby Corrigan, Tovah Feldshuh, Sage Linder, Brian Altemus, and more complete the stellar cast.
The showrunners/executive producers are Harlan Coben and Allen MacDonald, with executive producers Edward Ornelas and Erik Barmack. Charlotte Coben is the producer, and Patricia Cardoso directs and serves as executive producer. Will this first season be popular enough to get greenlit for season two?
