400+ Found 1977 Star Wars Action Figures Go To Auction |
What ten-year-old boy in 1977 buys almost every manufactured Star Wars action figure in Star Wars nascent journey to becoming Americana? In truth, none. Kenner couldn’t produce them in time for a Christmas rush and used an ‘early bird’ certificate to claim a small set later. By 1985 the toy line ended, but not without leaving kids and collectors in fits throughout that time. Yet somehow, someone assembled some of the most coveted and unique figures of all time curating a collection now worth in excess of $20,000 to be auctioned off on February 1, 2023, by Morphy Auctions. You can review all of the action figures in the previous link to the auction with an embedded downloadable PDF of the complete listing on pages 6-110! It even includes Kenner factory shipping boxes and unopened boxes of Star Wars trading cards (chewing gum included). The original owner’s name has been withheld but he’s said to be from Chicago, Illinois, and a friend of the auction owner. |
