Jeremy Clarkson May Split from Amazon Prime Over Harry and Meghan |
Amazon’s premier show The Grand Tour and face of the network Jeremy Clarkson, may be making a major exit from the platform. According to Variety, sources state it’s done. Clarkson’s Farm and Grand Tour won’t go beyond the seasons already commissioned. This could in fact be for years, but who is to know for certain this early in the new cycle? The cause of the break is thought to be directly related to the fallout from Clarkson’s December 2022 comments about Harry and Meghan’s divisive airing of Royal Family matters. Prime Video refused to comment to Variety when asked. It leaves rumor columnists to look back at Clarkson’s international tirade against Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle to which he soon after made what seemed a forced public apology. Clarkson explains.
How bad were Clarkson’s comments that such a powerful man in media needed to walk them back? If you missed that dust-up in December of 2022, he was so upset over Meghan Markle’s negative effect on Prince Harry by continuing to sell themselves as victims and vilifying the Royal Family as racist that he suggested Meghan be forced into a Game of Thrones Queen Cersei style walk of shame. This meant walking naked through the streets of London with excrement and food being thrown at her while the public tossed insults. Clarkson fell on his sword so to speak explaining he was rushed the day he posted his comments and in the heat of the moment failed to let his words sit a bit so he could either properly edit or refrain from commenting at all. In Clarkson’s own words,
In the aftermath, Clarkson went as far as to email the couple on Christmas morning to apologize personally. |
