Curating Star Trek With A Long Term Vision

It seems that Paramount+ is taking a careful approach in managing the Star Trek franchise. With five shows currently in production – Star Trek: Discovery, Star Trek: Picard, Star Trek: Lower Decks, Star Trek: Prodigy, and Star Trek: Strange New Worlds – the streaming service is evidently committed to expanding the Star Trek universe while preserving the quality of the franchise. Showrunners are carefully curating the release of each show, with Prodigy’s first season set to debut this year, followed by season two of Lower Decks and season four of Discovery. It’s expected that Picard’s second season and Strange New Worlds’ first season will follow in 2022. According to insiders, Paramount+ plans to keep the momentum going by having new Star Trek content premiere every quarter.
