This Month’s Netflix Streaming News
New Netflix Employee Goes Missing
August 18 — It’s devastating news. A family has gone in search of their 22-year-old son who just started a new job at Netflix in late July 2023 after moving from New York. It was his second week. He was last seen getting into an Uber in San Jose. You can read more on the story at Fox News.
Depp V. Heard Documentary
Netflix has found a lane for income at a low cost in the form of original content, and documentaries. At least until viewers are exhausted of the genre. The latest entry is last year’s public trial between Amber Heard and Johnny Depp by filmmaker Emma Cooper which debuts on August 16, 2023, on the Netflix streaming service. In this case, the filmmaker claims she didn’t want to interview either celebrity and after their six-week trial which ended in a 1 million dollar settlement. The three-part series also claims to balance their spin 50/50. What’s also clear is nothing new will be revealed in the documentary. It seems the director was consumed with watching the trial and decided to foster their addiction by constructing a cathartic documentary.
