Hulu Breaks Ties with Rick and Morty Co-Creator Over Domestic Dispute |
In the wake of a domestic violence charge against Justin Roiland, Hulu has publically announced in a statement they are immediately breaking from him with both Solar Opposites and the recently debuted series, Koala Man. Roiland has served as an executive producer (and voice) on Koala Man, and a co-creator of Solar Opposites. In addition, 20th Television Animation has also ended its relationship with him. Both Solar Opposites and Koala Man are to continue without Roiland. The case which has potentially cost Roiland his career originated in 2020. It involves a woman he dated in which he’s alleged to have committed a felony of domestic battery with corporal injury along with another felony count of false imprisonment by menace, violence, fraud and/or deceit. The case has been slowly moving through the court system and finally reached the spotlight in the public eye when NBC News broke the story on January 12th, 2023. His attorney T. Edward Welbourn issued this statement.

Historical Fact Checking The 1619 Project Trending Ahead of Show |
The early American history documentary The 1619 Project comes to Hulu on January 26th. While the topic is divisive to some, for many it’s more about facts. It’s no surprise most every online publication has a position and plays to an audience that shares their position. In the case of The 1619 Project, even publications that are against the belief in the 1619 Project have brought up valid points regarding accurate history. The argument by those on the right is that The 1619 Project sees America as a dichotomy of black versus white. Those on the left want to promote The 1619 Project to correct the annuls of history. The question viewers should be asking throughout the viewing experience should center around is, “Does this debunk history, or is it ignoring history.” In short, be a smart consumer. It’s what you don’t know that can hurt you. Researching the subject of The 1619 Project you’ll come across many instances where critical thinking gives you a perspective from both sides to find the truth. Even then, some publications want the 1619 Project to be true regardless of the truth. One example includes a NY Times writer seeking out facts from the documentary by reaching out to Black historians to verify history. In this specific instance, they asked to confirm this assertion from The 1619 Project, “One critical reason that the colonists declared their independence from Britain was because they wanted to protect the institution of slavery in the colonies.” The historian outlined the reasons the colonies declared independence and slavery was not one of them. The Times then proceeded to both ignore the historian, and misquote them in favor of the writer’s bias on the subject. Let’s just for the sake of argument say everything in The 1619 Project is accurate and America was founded by racist whites. The 1619 Project as it is written has taken a nation that has been healing over its failure in adopting slavery and rekindled a divisive topic. Will you walk away from the show having a sense of catharsis or anger? Whatever your position, be a smart consumer when it comes to historical facts |

Kumail Nanjiani Could Be A Chippendale |
If he wasn’t already playing the lead role, Kumail Nanjiani could have played one of the supporting actors in a Chippendale role. After five years since getting ripped for a superhero movie, Kumail Nanjiani is Still Jacked on Welcome to Chippendales. The show features him as Steve Banerjee, the Indian entrepreneur who founded the Chippendale’s in 1979. In real life, Banerjee was far from in shape, but what does that matter in retelling the Chippendale story? What’s fascinating, is that Kumail Nanjiani didn’t give up on his physical condition after taking a full year to train back in 2018 for his role in the Disney Marvel production, The Eternals. Good on Kumail for sticking with a healthy workout regimen for almost five years now. |
